In 2005, Peter McMahon and Truro artist/curator Bob Bailey began collecting photographs, drawings, artifacts and oral histories for the 2006 exhibit “A Chain of Events: Modern Architecture on the Outer Cape, from Marcel Breuer to Charles Jencks” at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. When the show was over, it became clear that the work displayed was only the tip of a much larger iceberg. Since then over 100 modern houses of interest have been identified, along with a great deal of material now archived and digitized by CCMHT including drawings, photographs, artifact and oral histories. This material is available to scholars, students, journalists and owners of Cape Cod modern houses. We have also benefited greatly from scholars doing overlapping research, who have shared their knowledge and sources with us.
