4 Brooklyn-based artists
The 2020 residents included a poet, a painter, and two dancers all based in Brooklyn, NY. Curator Asiya Wadud visited Wellfleet in 2019 to stay with Jenny Monick (2019 curator and acting Board Chair of CCMHT) in the Kohlberg House. The 2020 residency proved to be a challenge to organize due to Covid barriers but the group had a productive time, and mayfield and Brittany returned in 2021 to continue their projects. ASIYA WADUD (curator) is the author of "Crosslight for Youngbird," "day pulls down the sky/ a filament in gold leaf" (written with Okwui Okpokwasili), "Syncope" and "No Knowledge Is Complete Until It Passes Through My Body."
BRITTANY ENGEL-ADAMS is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher living in New York City.
MARCUS LESLIE SINGLETON is a visual artist born in Seattle, WA and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. His work mainly consists of painting, but he’s also worked in film, music, and sculpture.
MAYFIELD BROOKS improvises while black, and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York working as a movement-based performance artist, vocalist, urban farmer, writer, and wanderer.
