Add-on'13: Affordable Housing Competition Goes To Second Phase. Six Finalists Selected.
Wellfleet and surrounding communities on the issue. Add-on'13 grew from a collaboration of interested organizations to try to enlist the wider design community in generating fresh ideas on the area's critical affordable housing challenge.
Six finalists (out of 120 entries), have been selected by our jury to participate in the second phase of this competition for an freestanding, 800sf accessory dwelling.

A question and answer event will be host by the Wellfleet Community Forum on May 26th, ( 3 pm, Wellfleet Library) with the finalists, Wellfleet boards concerned with housing, the general public and people interested in possible building an Affordable Accessory Dwelling Unit (AADU)
In Phase Two, finalists will develop their designs to address sustainability, budget, construction strategy and the possibility of combining three units into a mini-cluster for a second site in Wellfleet.
The final distinguished jury will select the winning individual or team, on Aug. 13, followed by a panel and reception at the Wellfleet Congregational Church.
Winners will receive a cash prize. The work of finalists and some other selected participant's will be exhibited at the new Boston Society of Architects galley on Boston's waterfront and may travel to other towns on the Cape and Islands.
The Outer Cape has a rich tradition of small, experimental houses designed and lived in by some of the great innovators of the 20th century. Finalists will each have a week-long artist / scholar residency in one of the modern houses restored by The Cape Cod Modern House Trust with the help of donors, volunteers, the Wellfleet Community Preservation Committee, and the people of Wellfleet.
