September 26 Modern House Bike Tour
To make the Modern House Bike Tour more accessible (an easier ride, no biking after dark, etc.) we've made a few changes to the September 26th event.
Please see the details below:
The bicycle tour will view four houses in the Cape Cod National Seashore (ocean side) and will conclude with a carpool to the Hatch Cottage (bay side) at sunset (five houses total).
Participants should bring a bike that can handle dirt and sand roads; water; sunscreen; and rain gear if necessary. If you need a bicycle,
Little Capistrano Bike Rentals by the Wellfleet General Store is open from 9:30am on weekends. You can reach them at 508.255.6515.
The tour will meet at Noon in the back parking lot of Whitecrest Bea, off Ocean View Drive in Wellfleet.
Participants will ride to the Kugel/Gips house for a brief initial presentation, then head to the Tisza House, the Weidlinger House, and the Chermayeff House. Maps and detailed directions will be provided.
This ride will total roughly 6 miles.
The tour will return to the parking lot of Whitecrest Beach at 4pm. Those who need to return bikes to Little Capistrano can do so at this time.
Participants will carpool to the Hatch Cottage, where the tour will conclude with refreshments and a stunning sunset (hopefully).
For logistical reasons, participants must do this tour by bike only.
